Getting to the San Juan Islands

Seaplane flying over the San Juan Islands The San Juan Islands are served by several airlines and seaplane operators, making it easy to fly in from Seattle and other Pacific Northwest cities.

Kenmore Air — Seaplane flights from Seattle (Lake Union) to Friday Harbor and Roche Harbor. Wheeled aircraft service from Boeing Field to Friday Harbor Airport.

San Juan Airlines — Scheduled flights from Bellingham and Anacortes to the San Juan Islands.

Seaplane landings are available at Friday Harbor and Roche Harbor. Wheeled aircraft can land at Friday Harbor Airport and Roche Harbor Airport.

By Ferry

Washington State Ferries provides service from the Anacortes Ferry Terminal to the San Juan Islands, with stops at Lopez Island, Shaw Island, Orcas Island, and San Juan Island (Friday Harbor).

The ferry ride from Anacortes to Friday Harbor takes approximately one hour and offers stunning views of the islands and surrounding waterways. Vehicle reservations are recommended during the summer season and can be made online at the Washington State Ferries website.

Walk-on passengers do not need reservations and can simply arrive at the terminal and board.

Ground Transportation

Bellair Airporter Shuttle — Shuttle service from SeaTac Airport to the Anacortes Ferry Terminal, connecting Seattle-area travelers with ferry service to the San Juan Islands.

Eco Taxi (360-777-7572) — Taxi service throughout San Juan Island. Available for airport pickups, ferry terminal transfers, and island tours.
